高校2年の国際学級で校内模擬国連を行いました

　9月9日（土）、高校2年の国際学級による校内模擬国連（In-School Model UN Program）が行われ、英語での探究カリキュラムの集大成として、グローバルな課題を議論しました。

　今年のテーマは「Renewable Energy Technology for Developing Countries（開発途上国のための再生可能エネルギー技術）」で、生徒達は担当国（26カ国）の政府代表/全権大使として、「Extreme Weather（異常気象）」「Health（健康）」「Infrastructure（インフラ）」「Food Security（食糧安全保障）」「Biodiversity（生物多様性）」のコミッティに分かれて、それぞれ担当国の国情について、政府広報、文献、そしてWeb情報等でリサーチを続けてきました。そして当日の会議においては、自国政策の発表と他国との交渉を繰り返しながら決議案を作成し、全会一致で決議を採択しました。他国と協調を図りながら交渉を進めていく場面では、高い英語力が発揮された議論となりました。

　生徒達は目的意識を持って参加し、リサーチ、政策立案、スピーチ、議論、交渉というプロセスの中で、適切な情報を選び出す「問題分析能力」と、自国の有利な国益に向けた交渉のための「論理的思考力」を身につけたようです。これらは将来、世界のリーダーとして活躍する場面で大いに活きてくることでしょう。

　また、今年はアメリカの姉妹校である「Dana Hall School」の卒業生で、同校の在学時に模擬国連クラブで活躍されていた方がサポートのために来校してくれ、練習時のアドバイスや模擬国連当日の議長も務めてくださいました。心から感謝いたします。

What did you learn from the Model United Nations unit?

1.  I learned the importance of respecting the opinions of others while protecting the interests of my own country.   K.T.

2.   I learned that it is difficult to put the group together to make one thing. For me, it was hard to put two committees together but I think it was a great opportunity to speak up as a leader of the committee.    N.K.

3. I learned about renewable energy and felt its importance. It was exciting to discuss world problems with others. I could absorb other ideas.   K.I.

【見学した高1生徒の感想】

1.    I learned how they talk about the issues and make a solution depending on wealth. One thing I can prepare from now on is to practice debate and saying the opinion. R.K.

2.    I learned that without preparing information about your country you cannot discuss with others. I will practice to be able to summarize information I get and be able to tell someone in a way they could understand.
