高校1年国際学級BLAST｜第7日目

　7月28日、高校1年国際学級BLASTの7日目。
　午前中は最後のプレゼンテーションのグループごとの発表でした。My Discoveryというテーマで、自分について、またはクラス、文化、アメリカと日本の違いについての発見を、各自紹介しました。
　時には感動、時には笑い、お互いの学びからみんな考えさせられました。
午後はBoston Tea Party Ship and Museumに出向いて、独立戦争の引き金にもなったボストン茶会事件について、体験しながら学びました。1773年のボストン市民になったつもりで税についてのミーティングに参加した上で、茶箱をボストン港に投げ捨てました。
　その後、Simmons University に戻り、ゲストスピーカーの音楽ジャーナリストVictoria Wasylakさんのキャリアについてお話しを伺いました。

Today, we did the final presentation for the GPI session. I talked about the visit to Dana Hall school. About the others, many people talked about the differences between America and Japan. They said schools in America are more free and easy to express their opinions compared with Japan. I thought we should respect both cultural differences, and want to utilize this experience when we come back to Japan. （R.F.）

　最後のGPIセッションはプレゼンテーションで、各々このBLASTで学んだこと、大事だと思ったこと、将来にどう活かすかの3点を入れた、2分程度の英文を作成し、一人一人クラスの前で発表しました。それぞれボストンに来てから、日本とアメリカとの食の違いや、驚いたこと、楽しいと感じたことなどや発表、行った大学・美術館などの経験したことを踏まえた発表などがあり、聞いていてこちらも為になるものばかりでした。みんなの一人一人の想いを聞けた良い機会となりました。（C.W.）

　ボストンティーパーティーシップでは、ミュージアムに入って参加者全員がボストンティーパーティーのメンバーになりきって、まるでその時代にタイムスリップしたかのような世界観で楽しく学ぶことができました。もともと私は、ボストンティーパーティー事件を知識として知ってはいたけれど、どういった背景で生まれた事件なのかを知らずにいました。しかし、このミュージアムで事件の背景やなんのために戦ったのか、なぜアメリカが大切にしている事件なのかをしっかりと学ぶことができました。ミュージアムのなかは、当時使われていた船のレプリカや、お茶が入っていた箱などが展示されており、当時のことをより深く知ることができました。ミュージアムはとても面白かったけれど英語があまり理解できなかったので、もっと英語を聞けるようになってまた訪れたいと思います。 （A.F.)

　今日は午後から、ボストンティーパーティーシップに向かいました。スタッフの方々が、歴史上ボストン茶会事件に参加していた人たちの役になりきっていたうえ、参加者一人一人にも役が与えられていて、それによって、よりお話の中に入り込めました。また、船に乗ってその中を見て回ったり、お茶を投げたりすることができて、アトラクション感覚で楽しむことが出来ました。ショップでは色々な茶葉や、ボストンティーパーティーシップ限定のコップなどを購入しました。（Y.T.）

Today, I had a great time at the Boston Tea Party. We were given roles and pretended to be people from the American Revolution era. If we agreed or disagreed with something, we stomped our feet and shouted. It was really fun! Then, we went on a boat and got to throw tea boxes, just like they did back then. We watched an interesting video that taught us more about the fight for American independence. At the end, we bought some tea to take home and enjoyed it. Overall, it was a fun and educational day. （K.K.)

Today, I visited the Boston Tea Party Ship. It is the incident when American citizens threw away their imported tea packs from England to the sea. I just knew that American citizens threw away tea packs. I didn’t know which country was fighting at that time, but I could understand everything about this incident. I was surprised that the animations were so real, so I was scared at the fighting scene!! Throughout this museum I could know the history of Boston in the 18th century. I really enjoyed it! Tomorrow will be the last day in Boston and our final chance to meet our AGLs and teachers, so I will do my best to do everything! Thank you. （Y.I.）

We heard what our guest speaker,  Ms. Victoria Wasylak, is doing as a music journalist and a columnist. It was surprising to hear the names of the famous people she had interviewed in the past. It was interesting for me to hear what she did when she was a student, and things she has done to elevate her career.
In the Q&A session, she answered that there are many times when she feels nervous to do an interview. I get nervous easily, so this made me think that it is normal to be nervous, and I thought to myself to just keep practicing to speak in front of people to be confident in myself. （M.Y.）

　今日は、音楽ジャーナリストであり、アーティストのインタービュー、ライブやコンサートの批評などを行っているVictoria Wasylacさんにお話を聞かせていただきました。Victoriaさんはもともとサメの研究者になりたかったところ、学生の時に匿名ブログを書いていた経験を活かし、ジャーナリストになったとお聞きしました。グラミー賞などにも参加しており、現在はボストン地方紙の音楽コラムを毎週執筆しています。 （H.H.）
