BLAST（1）姉妹校のDana Hall Schoolを訪問しました
7月24日（月）から、高一国際学級のBLAST（ボストン・リーダーシップ研修）が始まりました。
成田空港を出発した飛行機は、無事にボストン空港に到着。3日目は、本校との姉妹校で留学生が派遣されているDana Hall Schoolを訪問しました。
これからボストン大学、ハーバード大学、MITなどのキャンパスツアーや大学生との交流など、魅力的なイベントが目白押しです。追って続報を投稿していきます。
【生徒の感想】
We went to Dana Hall School today. The student who came to our school last month guided us around the school. We all were happy to see her again! Each classroom is in a different building (There are many buildings in the school) and it was totally different from a Japanese one. The school was very big and looks so active and enjoyable!
After the tour, we practiced debating with two Dana students and two teachers who know well about Model United Nations. For example, we discussed the topic “the sky is actually green.” To think about what we are not thinking about for real was difficult, but we learned to imagine others’ thoughts and be respectful of them. Also, we discussed “Is Barbie a good role model for girls?”. The approve side insisted that the main color of the Barbie movie is pink, so the girls might think they should like pink. On the other hand, the disapprove side claimed that many kinds of Barbies such as Asian one, black one come out in the movie, so they can learn diversity. Both opinions are convincing, and it was exciting! In September, we are going to take part in MUN, so it was a good experience for us. （高一 H.M.)
今日、私たちは女学館の姉妹校であるDana Hall Schoolを訪れました。Dana Hall School はボストンのウェルズリーというところにあり、緑豊かな静かな街並みに囲まれていました。歴史ある女子校であるDana Hallは、女学館と似ている部分もありながら、自由で悠々とした雰囲気を感じることができました。
まず初めにDana Hallの学生によるキャンパスツアーを体験しました。広々としたキャンパスには、馬小屋、ジム、ロッククライミングエリアなど、日本の高校ではなかなか見られないような施設を目にし、とても驚きました。Dana Hall Schoolは留学生を多く受け入れる学校として知られており、多様性、そして学生の個性、ユニークさを大事にする学校ということを知り、とても感銘を受けました。9月から東京女学館を代表して留学させていただく立場として、生徒自身を大事にする、生徒を優先する教育に大きく心を動かされました。
Dana Hall の大きな食堂でお昼を頂いた後、模擬国連クラブに所属しているお二人とのアクティビティをしました。全てのアルファベットで始まる国名を言っていく、自分の意見をしっかり他人に伝える練習もしました。日本ではあまりできないこのアクティビティでは、どれだけ他人の意見を聞くことが大切なのか、そしてそれを理解することが大切なのかを知ることができました。ふだんはあまりやらないテーマでの議論や、反対の立場に立ってみること、これらのアクティビティは私たちに自分自身の考えを追究し、より深く考えることを教えてくれました。
Dana Hall Schoolでの時間は本当に素晴らしく、早く再訪したいと思わせてくれる時間でした。先月はDana Hall Schoolから2人の留学生が短期留学で女学館に来て、今年の9月から女学館の2人がDana Hallに留学します。これからのDana Hall Schoolと女学館の関係のさらなる発展を願います。（高一 S.Y.）

今日、初めてDana Hallを訪れました。以前、交換留学生の方から少しお話を聞いていたので、楽しみにしていました。到着してまず、Dana Hallの学生の方に学校の案内をしていただきました。私にとって初めて海外の学校を訪れたので、とても新鮮でした。女学館にはない施設が多く、圧倒されることがとても多かったです。私が特に印象に残ったのは、図書館でした。本がたくさんあり、更にはDVDの貸出もあったので、日本とは違う点にも驚きました。雰囲気も落ち着いていて、私もここで勉強をしてみたいと思いました。興味深いところがたくさんある、素敵な学校でした。（高一 E.N.）
We went to Dana Hall today and saw the facilities there. My first impression was that Dana Hall is so big. There were tons of buildings which had gyms, science room, and library etc. Also, there was a place where they can do horse riding. I am very curious of what kind of lessons they are taking there because I like horses!
We also did a Model United Nations lesson in Dana Hall. We were taught about diversity which is very important for it. Diversity isn’t popular in Japan, so I want tell Japanese people about it. We did debates with my classmates and some of the Dana Hall students. One of the debates was about “pollution is good for earth” and it was difficult for me because it is common sense that pollution is bad for Earth. This activity taught me that I need diversity of thinking in MUN.
I learned many things at Dana Hall, and it was a wonderful time there! （高一 Y.N. )
（ボストン美術館を訪れて）
もともと美術館に行くのがすごく好きでとても楽しみでした。ボストン美術館はとても広く、ひとつの美術館で様々な種類の作品が見られるところが魅力的でした。特にエジプト美術と古代ギリシア美術に興味があり、両方とも一度に観ることができ、また建物内も非常に美しく太陽光がたくさん取り入れられていて、建築自体が美術品のようでした。 （高一 S.I.）
